Have a Happy Day

Have a Happy Day

“Have a nice day” T-shirts were everywhere when I was a kid. I heard Graphic Designer Harvey ball got paid $45 to create it for State Mutual Life Insurance. Neither he or the insurance company thought to trademark it. Millions were made off of it. Kind of like Milton Glaser’s I ❤️ NY design.

War Museum

War Museum

This was a really fun and interesting project. Finding out about Canadian soldiers in World War Two. I did this before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It really resonates with me now seeing what has unfolded in world affairs today. War isn’t history anymore.

Sealweld website

Sealweld website

I was approached to redesign their website and learning portal. Along with Jeff Plante from Ambient Media, we reorganized the site and simplified all the elements to be clearer and make a better user experience.
Logos, the one that got away

Logos, the one that got away

This was an interesting project since the client never chose any of these solutions. All of which, in my opinion were better than the final solution. As a designer, it’s my job to help steer clients to strong, valuable solutions. But in real life sometimes you can’t. I’m still proud of these logo design solutions.
Bear and clown

Bear and clown

Grizzly bear and clown
This commission was to produce a nonsensical image, I chose to use incongruity as a theme. Living in a place where bears can be a concern, I wanted to explore the idea of adding something to the Alberta landscape that stands out. I put the clown close to the flowers, so compositionally a viewer will see the bear first and then pan across to the clown. Painted in acrylics, scanned and completed in Photoshop.
