Yeah, this month this company turns 23 years old. I’m amazed by how much work we’ve done in the past 23 years. Hundreds of publications, logos, and exhibits. Thousands of Illustrations, and my fingers aren’t even tired. I love this business, but, hey, I’ve been designing and Illustrating ever since I won the contest to design the school newspaper masthead when I was in grade two (I beat out some tough competition—a lot of grade-sixers gave me the evil eye for weeks).
Teresa at Redpoint Media was the Art Dirctor for this fun piece I did for one of the publications she works on. How often do you get to draw Elvis and an old Cadillac? Not enough for sure.
This logotype was done for a company that sell toys for big boys. The primary clients are Harley owners that are looking to pimp their ride.
Sure, you think I’m poking fun at Stephen Harper. But I’m really thinking about Shepard Fairey. He has become the poster boy for appropriation and copyright infringement issues. Was it OK for him to use the work of another person to make his work? He quotes the Marilyn Monroe poster by Andy Warhol in his defence. Good arguments on both sides.
