friday fun
After the Motivational speaker is done with me, I’m stoked. Two days later, I’m the same cartoonist, Illustrator and designer I was before.
logo design
This logo design started out with playing with a client’s existing logo. I made the symbol more symmetrical and added a graphic from some things I was riffing around with in my sketchbook. As far as building the file goes, it was all in Illustrator; the line work for the petals are just a stroked path with the tapered end done using the width tool.
find that peak
I designed this last year but came across the image when cleaning out some files. The challenge was for visitors in Waterton Park to be able to name each peak around them in 360 degrees. If you stand in the middle of the medallion and face a mountain, that peak name and drawing will be facing you.
design a logo the right way

Using a qualified designer is a good starting point, a good place to look is the Graphic Designer’s of Canada’s website, or ask people you know who are in business. Once you’ve found a designer, look at their portfolio to see if they have work you like, as well as seeing if they’re a good problem solver. (more…)
matchbox art
Hunter Oatman-Stanford has compiled a great compendium of matchbook covers. The low quality reproductions have a certain charm to them. Especially when enlarged. The illustrations are so economical and well designed. via Collectors Weekly.
