friday fun (the long weekend edition)

All this news about Facebook sharing information about me for hegemonic forces to use in control of me. It made me think of a phrase from the nineties, maybe you remember it.

new work

This project was for an executive gift portrait. I’ve done a few of these now, they’re output to brushed aluminum, so the whites of the image allow the aluminum to show through and the texture of the brushed aluminum adds a nice translucency to the colors. The image was created using Sketchbook Pro and Photoshop, sixteen inches in diameter.

New work-Winter horse

This horse illustration was done for output to brushed aluminum disks, 16 inches in diameter. The Aluminum should add a nice translucence to the lighter colors. The technique is pen and ink in Clip Studio Pro, I feel the ink brushes are superior to any other drawing app, and are more forgiving than drawing on board.

new work

This illustration was done for a cycling magazine as the opener for an article on bike theft. I usually try to come up with something conceptual relative to the texts but the Art Director had something specific in mind, so Just had fun making a sinister Illustration.

New Work

Here’s the cover design I was privileged to do for November’s City Palate magazine. It was a really fun project, the slideshow shows the finished design and the rejected ideas. I liked all three, but I’m glad they chose this image just because I liked the idea of the weird appetizers we’ve all seen. The Illustration is all digital, even my roughs are done digitally now–really speeds up the drawing process.

camp festival

I attended the Camp festival here in Calgary earlier this week, If you’ve not been to it, it’s a Great festival of art, Illustration, design and technology. I illustrated each speaker and highlighted their discussions, live.
